Anyone can rename one or two files, but it is a different matter when it comes to renaming hundreds of files. In situations like this, a specialized renaming application is what you need. Batch File Renamer can meet all your expectations, if you are trying to sort a large number of files in a logical order. You just need to make a few selections and the application will rename all your files in a few seconds.

You can run Batch File Renamer's executable right away, after you download the file. The application doesn't need to be installed, so you can use it on a portable device, on any computer, if it's running Windows XP, NT, Vista or Windows 7.

Instead of loading countless files, you can explore your local folders on the application's interface. The listed files can be filtered by their extensions, so you can avoid renaming something you are not supposed to modify. Batch File Renamer allows you to choose from a variety of renaming methods, which can be selected in a drop menu, beneath the file list.

Besides converting file names to upper or lower case, you can also rename your files with random characters or replace specific characters. Additionally, you can change file names with a custom string and number your files, with one or more decimals.

It is also possible to set a few attributes, like Normal, Hidden, Read-only or System. When your configurations are complete, you may click a Generate option, to preview the new file names or hit the Start button, located in the lower right corner of the interface, to rename the files immediately.

Pros

The software can process countless files in a single run. It allows you to rename files according to various methods. It works quite fast, so you will not spend too much time renaming your files.

Cons

While using the trial version, you have to wait for 90 seconds before the application loads its interface. Regardless of how many files you have, you can rename them almost instantly with Batch File Renamer.
